Giancarlo lives in Abruzzo, a wonderful region in central Italy, not so far from Rome, and works full time as a professional photographer. His business is mostly focused on weddings, honeymoons and portrait sessions for couples and singles.
Giancarlo has received numerous national and international awards, including the Grand Prize at the “Urban photographer of the year” 2009 (UK), 1st prize at the National Competition Portfolio “Trofeo Pontevecchio” in Bologna in 2009 and the 2nd prize both Portfolio and Single Photo in the “Grand Prix of Photography” in 2009 and 2010. He participated in the monograph FIAF “Abruzzo Photographer” (2008) with a reportage of more than 50 images to the realization of the book “3:32 Signs of the Earthquake” (2010).
In 2011 his report “The Sea, Our Life”, made on board a fishing vessel, was selected for the 40 Witness Journal, the leading online magazine for photojournalism in Italy. In that same year, his report on the feast of St. Dominic in Cocullo (AQ) was also published by the Italian Touring Club. Giancarlo was also selected in 2011 as one of 24 finalists for the photographers’ contest “Leica Talent 24 × 36″, for which he made the reportage “The Denied City”, about the situation of the city of L’Aquila three years after the earthquake of April 6, 2009.
In 2012 Giancarlo’s reportage “The Denied City” was published in issue no. 49 of Witness Journal. In 2013 he was also one of the 5 winners of the Canon contest “Power To Your Next Step” in the “Professional” category.
Giancarlo speaks English and Italian.
Where are some of your favourite places to shoot in Abruzzo?
Abruzzo is full of small medieval towns, beautiful beaches with fine sand, high mountains and untouched nature.
This is not the "usual" Italy, it's a different Italy!
What are three words that best describe your style of photography?
Emotional, spontaneous, romantic.
