Maya and Miguel Rodrigues, Photographers in Lisbon

Maya and Miguel are photographers based in Cascais Portugal. Maya is originally from Canada and Miguel is from Portugal. They married and have two small children, and have been shooting together for the ex-pat community in Portugal since 2009.

Maya and Miguel say:

"We love outdoor sports like running and surfing, so spend a lot of time outdoors exploring new photography territory."

"We are natural light photographers who shoot lifestyle, outdoor and studio photography. We love to use artificial light as well, when we shoot to create beautiful and natural images. You can do a lot with natural and artificial light together. Since Miguel and I are both surfers we also shoot underwater with our water housing. So we can do any type of shoot for clients in the water too. If we are booking a more elaborate shoot for the client especially outdoors, we can incorporate accessories and vintage furniture into the shoot."

Maya and Miguel speak English, Portuguese and some Spanish and French.

Where are some of your favourite places to shoot in Lisbon?

The most effective areas to shoot in our area is downtown Cascais, Sintra and Lisbon.

Cascais centre is a beautiful village to shoot in. It has a fishing dock, marina, beaches and historical buildings. In essence is the perfect place to shoot.

Sintra centre is a medieval village with many historical castles, forests and mountains in walking distance. It captures the essence of old Portugal.

Lisbon city centre is also high recommended to shoot because of its historical venues, tiny roads and monuments. There are many photography options here.

What are three words that best describe your style of photography?

Natural, Bright and Vintage.
