Europe’s Best Destination Photographers
Come and meet some of our talented photographers across Europe.
Born in Khartoum, raised in Rome and now living in Athens, Carlo is an Italian-Greek professional photographer with extensive experience in portraiture, fashion, landscape, travel, lifestyle, editorial and reportage, animals and commercial projects.
A photography graduate of Rome’s IED, he possesses more than 25 years of experience in photography. He describes himself as "super easygoing and at the same time a perfectionist. I give my absolute all to make sure every one of my clients is happy with the end result. I provide quick turnaround of edited, top quality images and do everything I can to make sure travellers to Greece return home with unforgettable memories."
In respect of his way of working with clients, Carlo says: "I always speak with my subjects before I start the shoot so they can tell me a bit about themselves, their interests, their story, see what they are looking to achieve with the shoot. During the shoot, I continue the conversation and make sure they're relaxed and smiling, direct them in a way that makes them feel at ease and ensures they present themselves in the most flattering way. I love to make people laugh during my shoots and show their interaction between one another and the camera in the most natural way."
There are so many amazing spots in Athens to photograph visitors. Some of my favourite are the quieter streets of Plaka, edgy Psyrri which is popular with students, specific side streets in Monastiraki, Thissio, the National Gardens, Zappeion estate, Lycabettus Hill (for its 360 degrees of the city) and the pedestrianised promenade that rings around the Acropolis. All of these areas have something different - from ancient sites, neoclassical buildings, impressive street art and traditional tavernas to modern shops, galleries, hip cafes, bars and restaurants, gardens, and incredible views, of course.
I also love to shoot anywhere along the southern Athens coast, a part of Athens that few travellers actually know about. The seaside resort suburbs of Flisvos, Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza are all beautiful. There are marinas filled with yachts, beaches, bars, restaurants and boutiques, and if you go as far as Cape Sounio, the ancient Temple of Apollo is a fantastic spot to take photographs as the sun sets.
Spontaneous, Atmospheric, Captivating.
