Flaviana studied cultural anthropology and began her work as a photographer when she started to use photography to understand men. Even now, she says “photography allows me to study, analyze, learn and dream. It makes people happy that the pictures come to life through different stages of their lives and creates a historical memory. The photograph is a document that helps us to remember and relive. I think I could not live without taking a picture… for me it is an obsession.”
Flaviana speaks English, Spanish and Italian. She also understands (but does not speak) French.
I take photos in Naples, their nearby islands (for example Ischia and Procida) and occasionally also in Rome. I love the sea of Naples, the places between the sacred and the profane. The spots that are quirky, quaint and not too touristy. Naples is not just about pizza (although it is very good). I like to discover the underground places in the city and take pictures that are removed from stereotypes.
Natural, elegant, real.
I think it was in Moldova and Transnistria. I love those places. The colors and people inspire me a lot.
I am inspired by the cinema. Directors such as Wes Anderson, Kubrick, Polanski. Often the films come to my mind when I make the photo stories.
